Welcome to the future of vision support. We plan
to care for people's eyes in one way. SunSpot will relieve eye strain caused or exasperated by glare.
Intense reflection, flare, star, halo, haze, and streaks from very bright lights over long periods can lead to headache,
fatigue, stress, and various syndromes. Some of the fields of intense work and play that SunSpot aids will help
are drivers, bikers, racers, boaters, and pilots. Also, golfers, runners, hikers, team members and officials of tennis,
and baseball. The list includes anyone who works or plays outdoors or under bright lights.
George Haloulakos, from Spartan Research, describes Sunspot Systems' business model:

EXECUTIVE SUMMARY
The product
is called Sun Spot. The system is for Automatic Dark Glasses or goggles which are mostly clear but shade your eyes from
bright lights, either sun or headlights. The highest number of complaints to the Federal Highway Safety Commission were not
about mechanical failures, accidents, or air-bag override, but about the HID (halogen) headlights. Bright lights cause
fatigue and headaches, especially on long trips!
Improved health and safety on the job is important. Some
work environments are inherently irritating, so stress is becoming pervasive. Vision is one area that can become
overwhelmed. This is particularly true in night time driving. A new way to provide comfort for workers
and reduce stress in this area is the Sun Spot Glasses! These glasses give protection when and where needed, always
allowing clear vision while greatly reducing glare! They are only dark where you want shade, automatically, and just
when you need it, instantly. A dark spot is formed in the glass electronically. The spot(s) are positioned by
a microprocessor using input from a small camera in the glasses frame. When workers are less stressed by the job,
they are more productive; when they are more comfortable they are safer coworkers.
Many various models of Sun Spot
glasses will be available in the future. Professional drivers will be targeted first for these automated goggles;
Early production versions (Phase 1 and 2) will go to high paying (desperate) and high volume clients, including delivery fleets,
like the post office, long haul freight, like FedEx [2003 revenue $6,599,000], Roadway [$2,844,000], UPS [$21,340,000],
& 5 others with over $2 million revenue each), police, fire officers (stressed from many things including lots of
sirens and bright flashing lights), and bus drivers (Gray Line, Greyhound, & Laidlaw). Prices start at a few thousand
dollars.
Then other people working and playing around extremely bright lights, like television studios (directors/camera/lighting
people) and athletes/teams and fans (in the lighted stadium and under the sun) will be targeted at $700 to $1,200. Please
note that many people pay $600 for a great pair of glasses from the optician now! Later, daytime-only
drivers, pedestrians, bicycles, and hikers who are sensitive to the flashes of sun as they zip thru the forest (or around
tall buildings), will love the protection of Sun Spot Glasses as the price comes down to $300. Prescription lenses and
other options are extra, like bike helmet and/or ear protection!
The glasses will initially be provided
by doctors and opticians, so fitting and alignment will be made properly. They will also be in tough with those who
are most in need of this protection and are seeking relief. Stress clinics, union halls, large trade schools will be
targeted as they are in direct contact with many eager customers. Internet and live training sessions
will be available to doctors and staff. Brochures and classes will stress sensitivity training. In Phase 3 nurses
will be able to adjust the more automatic versions as they become available. Training will be provided for nurses in many
locations with potential customers. In Phase 5 Sun Spot glasses and accessories will be available over the counter in
fine stores and specialty shops everywhere.
Price will eventually be about $100. Marketing will produce
a community atmosphere for users, featuring other items (jewelry, magnets, scarves, and hats), which show the SunSpot logo
(a solar flair).
Estimated sales are likely to be over $33 million (33,000 units at 1% penetration
of USA truckers) in the first five years in Phase 1; an equivalent amount in Phase 2 (over the next 2 years) from professional
drivers; $10 million or more in Phase 3 stretched over the first ten years from city/state/federal/county/etc. drivers, fire/police(761,000),
& captains/pilots; Phase 4 for athletes; Phase 5 for small groups and individuals (no sales estimates as yet).
The product market theme is sun glasses that give shade when and where needed. > Always giving you
clear vision and reduced glare! > They are dark where you want shade, automatically; and whenever you
need it, instantly.
